Once again the Institute travelled to the Temple of the Dinghy Sailor, The RYA Dinghy Show at the Alexandra Palace in London. The event, held every year, has exhibitors from all around the industry putting their best foot forward and showing off their wares. The show, which attracted over 10,000 visitors this year was hailed a huge success. It is completely dedicated to all things Dinghy with boats, new and old on display. Also on display was a host of new gear, kit and books for all the enthuiasts. The Ally Pally brought an air of fun for all the family with the RS Sailing simulator being tested out by the young sailors of the future as well as a trapezing rig allowing the public to have a go using the latest techniques for getting out on the wire. From single handers to crewed boats, catamarans to the sailability boats the show gave you it all. The sailing clubs and associations were well represented with everyone from Rutland Water, SportScotland Cumbrae and of course the Scottish Sailing Institute giving people a chance to get on the water. The RYA Dinghy Show showed off the best new dinghies on the market today.
David Kent, Sailing Development Manager for the Scottish Sailing Institute (SSI) commented; “SSI have been coming to the show for over 10 years now. It’s a great place for us to network with the classes and attract events north of the border.
“The atmosphere is really friendly and we’ve had a lot of people coming to talk with us; it’s great having all the main players all in one place. Saturday was really busy, busier than last year and we’re hoping for a busy Sunday as well.”
We can't wait until next year to do it all over again!
