The SSI Team were involved in not one but two events this weekend! The SSI’s David Kent was Race Officer at the RYA Scotland Spring Championships held at Loch Venachar whilst the institute’s Stuart White ran a Regional Mark Laying Seminar at Largs.
The Spring Championships saw some interesting races taking place. Each fleet managed to get in 5 races over the two day event. The sailors faced some fun but shifting conditions. Hannah Scott took first place in the Optimist class with Scott Forbes coming a close second whilst Calum Bell took 1st place in the Topper class.
Meanwhile the RYA Regional Mark Layer Seminar was held in Largs over the weekend. Stuart White and Martin Stephens instructed the nine candidates who were being put through their paces both on and off the water, looking at modern techniques and skills needed for events.
The Seminar brought people from club and Race Official backgrounds to show them the best strategies, methods and systems for working at both club and National events.
