SSI gears up for prestigious events
The Scottish Sailing Institute is delighted to announce an exciting events calendar for the coming season and beyond.
The 2007 calendar will host a variety of championships, including the Flying 15 Nationals, the Scottish Laser Traveller, and the Scottish Fireball class.
Other events that are showing interest in coming to Largs include the prestigious SB3 class, the Scottish Tiger Trophy, the RS800 Traveller and the 2.4mR Traveller.
In 2009, the biggest championship of the year in Britain, the Optimist Nationals, will be hosted by the Scottish Sailing Institute. Also confirmed for 2009 are the RYA UK Youth Championships in April, while in 2010, the Scottish Sailing Institute is delighted to announce that Largs will be hosting the RS800 Nationals.
The feasibility of Largs bidding and staging the largest sailing event ever to come to Scotland is currently taking place. The RYA, UK Sport, Event Scotland and North Ayrshire Council have now selected the company which will go on to assess the feasibility of the SSI hosting the ISAF World Sailing Championships in 2011.
